I am currently contracted to Conoco Phillips, involved in a refresh of hardware and software throughout their UK and North Sea operations. This includes trips to the difficult working conditions in offshore platforms. I am primarily the subject matter specialist for Microsoft Office providing testing and refactoring for Excel, Access and VBA based systems. This also involves support for the end-user with training, trouble-shooting and awareness raising all to aid a smooth transition to improved technology. The use of IT in these environments is not only concerned with business efficiency but also has a part to play with safety in this vital industry.
